The CFI code has been developed additionally to address
a number of problems in order to provide more information about any financial
instrument. It allows international financial instruments to be defined and
classified and it consists of six alphabetical characters.

The first character indicates the highest level of classification
(categories), which can be defined as follow:
The second character indicates specific groups within each category
such as shares, preferred shares, convertible preferred shares, Units and
others.
The third to sixth character indicates the most important
attributes to each group such as voting right, ownership/transfer restrictions,
payment status and form.
